Makamsi Laboratory

Makamsi laboratory was founded in 2025 by laboratory professional, Ayanda Msimango who is a HPCSA registered Clinpath Laboratory Medical Technician with a multi-disciplinary background. Ayanda holds a Biotechnology National Diploma and Bachelor of Technology in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is currently studying for her Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health at the University of Pretoria. With 9 years' experience of working in the laboratory diagnostic field, it became evident that healthcare is a much needed yet very expensive commodity and there is a noticeable gap within smaller communities where healthcare monitoring and testing facilities would be beneficial.

The gap identified then inspired the idea as compassion is an outmost humanitarian trait and that can easily be shown in any health-related setting. Makamsi lab aims to remove the notion that private healthcare needs to be expensive by the provision of affordable quality testing while also adhering to and protecting the privacy of patients by providing regulated confidential services using point of care methods as well as other conventional laboratory methods by qualified personnel.

Makamsi Laboratory is a South Africa-based workplace health and rapid screening service provider, delivering accessible, affordable, and confidential health screening solutions to individuals, organisations, and communities.

The organisation specialises in point-of-care testing and workplace wellness screening, supporting early detection, risk identification, and referral for further medical management through accredited laboratories such as NHLS and SANAS-certified facilities.
